50 years of MGU: Measurements as the basis for prevention and health protection
Measurements in a wide variety of work areas and the determination of exposure data – this has been the task of the MGU for 50 years. Behind this is the accident insurance institutions’ measurement system for determining hazards, which is a collaborative network consisting of the measurement services of the statutory accident insurance institutions and the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the DGUV (IFA). The work of the accident insurance institutions is supported by this exposure data, which serves as a basis for prevention and health protection. The tasks of the “Exposure Monitoring – MGU” division in the Exposure and Risk Assessment department include research, development and consulting on the determination, documentation and assessment of working conditions. A key objective of the department is to use the data collected for operational and inter-company risk management in occupational health and safety in order to identify and assess exposures and thus contribute to effective risk reduction.
More information on exposure monitoring – MGU can be found on the website of the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV).
The measurement system for risk assessment of the accident insurance institutions (MGU) is presented in a brochure that can be downloaded free of charge as a PDF from the DGUV website.
