When the protective equipment thinks for itself

When the protective equipment thinks for itself

An interview in the trade journal Personal Protection & Fashion (PPF) with Dr Michael Thierbach, a consultant at the office of the Commission for Occupational Health and Safety and Standardization (KAN), discusses what makes protective equipment virtually intelligent. Dr. Thierbach explains why the big breakthrough is still a long way off and why the topic of “standardization” is not an easy one. One of his theses is that the hype phase for smart PPE (personal protective equipment) is over – manufacturers are now concentrating on specific developments that the market needs. The full interview is available to download free of charge from the KAN website.
