The main task of the Basi

The congress and the A+A trade fair are the main tasks of Basi.

Every two years, A+A takes place in Düsseldorf as the largest gathering of occupational health and safety stakeholders and the world’s leading marketplace for safety and health at work.

In the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work (Basi), 86 organizations and institutions (federal and state governments, social partners, statutory accident insurance, statutory health insurance, higher education institutions, institutions and professional associations) work together with the aim of improving safety and health at work in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Treffpunkt Sicherheit + Gesundheit (TPSG) is part of the A+A international trade fair. It is supported by the members and partners of Basi and brings together non-commercial organizations from the entire field of occupational safety and health. The approximately 80 exhibitors present concepts, perspectives and strategies as well as instruments and practices of occupational health and safety with the means of trade fair communication.

In close connection with the meeting point, Basi coordinates the lecture programs of the three thematic focus areas of the A+A trade fair “A+A Live”

  • “Safety & Security Innovation Park” with innovative products and services for personal protection, hazardous substances, operational fire and disaster protection
  • “Corporate Health Plaza” with the topics of workplace health promotion, health management, work-life balance, fitness and drug prevention
  • “WorkPlaceDesign” with a focus on production and office workplaces, ergonomics and work organization

Basi supports the dialog and cooperation of its members and the specialist scene, particularly with the focus on “Occupational safety and ergonomics”, “Occupational safety and health promotion” and “Prevention, rehabilitation, integration, inclusion”.

It is a strategic cooperation partner of the Joint German Occupational Health and Safety Strategy (GDA) of the federal and state governments and the German Social Accident Insurance and is a member of the network group of the New Quality of Work Initiative (INQA) of the Federal Ministry of Labor. It cooperates closely with the INQA networks “German Network Office” (DNB), which is based on a Basi initiative, as well as INQA Produktion and INQA Mittelstand.

International cooperation and networking takes place primarily in connection with A+A. The annual “Polish-German Occupational Health and Safety Dialogue” emerged from the partner country activities at A+A 2011, as did the dialog with Turkey at A+A 2013.

Basi membership

Members of Basi can be institutions and organizations that are primarily active in the field of occupational safety and health.

Basi committees

The statutory bodies of Basi are the General Assembly and the Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of seven natural and six eligible members. The chairmanship is held alternately every two years by the social partners, the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations, BDA and the DGB Federal Executive Board.

Work structures

To evaluate the large-scale Call for Participation and prepare the event program, there are four “A+A Congress Advisory Circles” for overarching topics, health, stress and occupational safety.

The “A+A Working Group Meeting Point Safety + Health” coordinates the joint exhibition of Basi members and partners at the A+A international trade fair.

Basi is responsible for the content and organization of the A+A Congress and continuously develops it further.

The “Safety and Health Meeting Point” will be realized as a joint presentation at the A+A trade fair by Basi and its members.

  • Supporting communication and cooperation between Basi members and in occupational health and safety as a whole

  • Initiation of forums for the exchange of opinions between occupational health and safety institutions
