Occupational health and safety can and must know no borders. With this in mind, Basi Managing Director Dr. Christian Felten is on the road to establish contacts for the further international expansion of the A+A Congress and to present, communicate or discover effective strategies around the world. His presentation at the “Lean Barcelona 2024” event focused on aspects of digitalization in prevention. One key message: digital tools can significantly improve health and safety in the workplace.
In Barcelona, Managing Director Dr. Christian Felten received the prestigious ORPHEUS Award from the International Foundation for Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP) for Basi’s activities (see separate news item). At the International Conference on Vision Zero, the vision of a world without occupational accidents in India and Malaysia (topic: Sharing Strategies and Solutions for Vision Zero), Dr. Felten gave a presentation in Kolkata on the topic “Global Insights: Navigating Challenges on Safety for Platform Gig Workers and Unorganized Contract Workers”, more information can be found on the conference website.
And the journey continues: In cooperation with Messe Düsseldorf and Basi as well as other partners such as the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), the International Section of the ISSA (International Social Security Association) for Occupational Safety and Health in the Health Care Sector (ISSA), the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), a theme week on occupational safety and health is being planned as part of EXPO 2025 in Osaka. Basi Managing Director Dr. Christian Felten signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Düsseldorf with Dr. Toshihiro Fujita, Director of the Institute of Global Safety Promotion (IGSAP) in Japan, which is part of the Global Initiative for Safety, Health and Wellbeing (GISHW). Dr. Fujita came to Messe Düsseldorf with a delegation for preliminary talks.
The Japanese institution GISHW is preparing the theme week, which will take place in Osaka, Japan, from July 16 to 19, 2025. The global prevention strategy will focus on modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robots. Basi will support the international activities for the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases; further information can be found on the GISHW website.
