“The Basi in dialogue”: Occupational health and safety and standardization – how do they go together?

Are standardization and occupational health and safety like ships passing each other in the dark, or do they actively complement each other in their objectives? How do standards play a role in occupational health and safety? These and many other aspects are discussed in the latest edition of the successful online event “Die Basi im Dialog”.

Join us on April 25, 2024, 3:30 p.m. – and feel free to inform other interested parties.

Basi Managing Director Dr Christian Felten will be welcoming experts Dr Bärbel Wernicke, Head of the “Life and Environment” department at the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), and Angela Janowitz, Managing Director of the Commission for Occupational Health and Safety and Standardization (KAN), as guests of the dialogue. DIN (German Institute for Standardization) is the independent platform for standardization in Germany and worldwide, while KAN supports the OSH experts in the standardization committees.

Current developments such as climate change or future technologies, for example the increasing use of artificial intelligence, are causing jobs to change dramatically. Healthy working conditions are increasingly becoming the focus of workplace choices. As a result, enormous demands are now being placed on the rules and regulations for health and safety at work. A central question at “Die Basi im Dialog” will be: What contribution can standards make to this and where are their limits?

“Basi in dialog” is an informal series of events that Basi established in spring 2022. The topics are topical and are attended by experts. Basi members in particular have the opportunity to present their aspects of occupational safety and health more prominently.
