The 38th International A+A Congress, organized by the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work (Basi), set an example for sustainability in occupational safety in 2023. Other current topics discussed by the 3,000 or so congress visitors included artificial intelligence and its potential applications as well as the consequences of climate change. The A+A Congress took place together with the WearRAcon Europe Congress for Exoskeleton Technology and the GfA (German Society for Occupational Science) Autumn Conference in Düsseldorf from October 24 to 27, 2023.
High-quality contributions
Dr. Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi, is satisfied with the outcome of the 38th A+A Congress: “We are delighted that the high-quality contributions from our more than 320 speakers in the 46 sessions attracted so many interested listeners. In many cases, around 3,000 guests were provided with possible solutions to problems that arise in practice as a result of mobile working and digitalization in the workplace, for example.” According to him, the numerous guests from abroad proved once again that the congress is gaining European and international appeal as a central German joint event for safety and health.
Well-known keynote speakers
The speakers included well-known keynote speakers such as Prof. Dr. Thomas Rigotti, Professor of Work, Organizational and Business Psychology at the University of Mainz and working group leader at the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research. In the sessions, experts addressed key topics of the GDA (Joint German Occupational Safety and Health Strategy) such as the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and mental stress. The Vision Zero Days of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the ORP Foundation (Occupational Risk Prevention) focused on how accidents and illnesses in the workplace can be prevented overall. Dr. Mohammed Azman, the 17th President of the ISSA, came all the way to the congress.
Successful stage program
The stage programme of the Trend Forum at the International A+A Trade Fair, organized by Basi, was a complete success: every day, hundreds of people listened to the respective sessions and asked questions. Numerous Basi members contributed to the sessions – they also engaged in discussions with visitors at the “Safety and Health Meeting Point”. The extensive poster exhibition, which Basi organized together with WearRAcon, attracted many interested visitors.
