The winners of the 15th German Hazardous Substance Protection Award 2024

The winners of the 15th German Hazardous Substance Protection Award have been announced: The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros and awarded by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (BMAS), went to the General Customs Directorate in Bonn for its innovative solution for identifying containers contaminated with hazardous substances using the GDA-F gas detection device. This technology protects customs officers from hazardous substances in import and overseas containers.

In addition, Jacqueline Tolg was officially commended for her training concept “Working with hazardous substances – swapped roles today?”. Her approach, in which employees teach managers about protective measures, promotes understanding and acceptance of safety precautions.

The German Hazardous Substance Protection Award is presented every two years by the BMAS and organized by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The 15th edition was held under the motto “Safe. Better. Work – 2024 in focus: Protection against carcinogenic hazardous substances”.

Further information can be found on the websites of the BMAS and the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA).
