The Basi in dialog: What the use of AI in occupational safety brings
The format “Die Basi im Dialog” is once again celebrating a continuation: The livestream of the event “AI and occupational safety” with Prof. Dr. Lars Adolph, Scientific Director “Products and Work Systems” and Coordinator AI at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) is online.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) opens up many opportunities for occupational safety – and it also plays a major role in research in this area. The audience at the successful “Die Basi im Dialog” event was given an exciting overview of this by Prof. Dr. Lars Adolph, Scientific Director of “Products and Work Systems” and AI Coordinator at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA). He was joined by Dr. Christian Felten, Managing Director of the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work (Basi). Numerous participants contributed to the discussion with the help of interactive tools. The recording of the event “Die Basi im Dialog: AI and occupational safety”, which included answers to participants’ questions, can now be viewed online.
Prof. Adolph sees the advantages of using AI primarily in numerous applications in the area of extensive data analysis, often with purely technical functions. “However, it is also important to design the introduction processes in terms of good change management,” explained the expert. In his view, it is important, for example, to reflect on areas of application and develop employees’ skills. According to Prof. Adolph, standards play a central role in the legal framework for the use of artificial intelligence.
The junior research group at the BAuA, which the AI expert heads, is primarily concerned with technical safety. Among other things, this involves developing risk profiles for production facilities with the help of artificial intelligence.
The topic of AI and occupational safety will also play an important role at the 38th International A+A Congress. It will take place in Düsseldorf from October 24 to 27, 2023 – together with the A+A International Trade Fair, the WearRAcon Europe congress for exoskeleton technology and the GfA (German Society for Occupational Science) autumn conference. The organizer is Basi, the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work.
Duration of the 38th International A+A Congress and the A+A World’s Leading Trade Fair 2023: October 24 – 27, 2023 in Düsseldorf.
An overview of the congress program, which is constantly updated, can be found on the Basi congress page.
