EU Parliament: law on due diligence for supply chains to come
The European Parliament is paving the way for a new EU law to oblige companies to respect human rights and environmental standards within their value chains. The legislative resolution calls for the urgent adoption of a binding EU law to hold companies accountable and liable when they violate or contribute to violations of human rights, environmental standards and good corporate governance. The rules on due diligence for supply chains should also guarantee access to remedy for victims. The Commission has announced that it will present its legislative proposal on this topic before the end of the year.
