EMKG – how does the concept of measures benefit users?

Cleaning agents, detergents and washing chemicals are also among the hazardous substances for which a risk assessment must be drawn up. Dieter Zipfel, a trained occupational safety specialist who works at Bardusch, a textile service company with branches throughout Germany, knows this. He uses the “Simple Concept of Measures for Hazardous Substances” (EMKG) from the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) for risk assessments. He was introduced to the EMKG by an external consultant and learned how to use it in a workshop. In discussions with the other participants, he gained a good overview of how he can use the EMKG. He appreciates its ease of use and legal certainty. The EMKG is based on the Hazardous Substances Ordinance and also offers the option of keeping a hazardous substances register. Dieter Zipfel would now like to introduce the EMKG at other Bardusch locations. His recommendation: “From practice for practice.”

The entire interview with Dieter Zipfel can be read on the website of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. There you will also find further tips for risk assessment.
