How workplace health promotion can also work in smaller companies

The results of the pilot project “Healthy working in Thuringia”, which have now been published in a final report by Basi member the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (DGAUM), show how workplace health promotion can also work in smaller companies. Many small and medium-sized companies still have some catching up to do when it comes to workplace prevention and health promotion, which is also due to a lack of resources. Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) account for a large proportion of all jobs in Germany and are therefore an important economic factor. In 2017, Barmer Krankenkasse and the DGAUM therefore launched the “Healthy working in Thuringia” pilot project. The particular aim was to improve occupational health care for employees in MSMEs at the interface between occupational health and safety and workplace prevention and health promotion. The final report now provides findings for the entire German-speaking region, primarily by discussing the special needs of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas.

A summary and the complete final report can be found on the website of the pilot project.
