Healthcare system in crisis – DGAUM: Occupational medicine to be more involved

According to the German Society for Occupational and Environmental Medicine (DGAUM), medical prevention concepts should be broadened in order to relieve the burden on the heavily strained healthcare system. It is important to anchor occupational medical expertise more firmly in the thinking and actions of those responsible. The DGAUM is therefore calling for cross-sectoral medical care. “Good networking between occupational physicians and other specialist areas will improve the quality and efficiency of medical care. Health risks or illnesses can be identified and treated earlier and people with health restrictions can participate in working life for longer,” said DGAUM President Professor Thomas Kraus on the fringes of the 65th Annual Scientific Conference of the professional association.

Further information, including the results of the conference, can be found on the DGAUM website.
