Anyone who drives while stoned is risking their life and the well-being of others. This also applies to riding a bike or e-scooter. That’s why the #mehrAchtung campaign appeals to consumers: “Don’t drive high!”. If you take care of yourself and your fellow human beings, you should not actively participate in road traffic for a longer period of time after smoking weed. Why is smoking pot behind the wheel so dangerous?
People who smoke pot smoke or vaporize parts of the hemp plant. It is usually referred to as cannabis, the flowers in dried form are called marijuana. The term “smoking weed” is often used. The effects of consumption are as varied as the terms. The tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) contained in the plant has a very individual effect on body and mind. Most people are familiar with similar effects from alcohol: while one person hardly notices anything after two glasses of beer, the other staggers or acts silly. Yet both have consumed the same amount of alcohol and are exposed to the same dangers.
It’s the same with cannabis. Many people experience a high after a few minutes, which can last for several hours and is always different. They are intoxicated (high) or lethargic (stoned). The dose and the form of administration are decisive, as are the physical and mental condition. The Federal Center for Health Education has more information on this.
