Dr Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi, gave an interview on the work of Basi, the A+A Congress 2023 and occupational safety and health in general for the latest KAN Newsletter from the Commission for Safety and Standardization. He can also be heard in detail as an expert on these topics in the KAN podcast – which represents the interests of occupational safety and health in standardization.

With the “Call for Participation” (CfP), the Basi has called for ideas for sustainable safety and health at work to be submitted for the upcoming A+A Congress. In his welcoming address, Federal Minister of Labor Hubert Heil emphasizes: “Sustainability is a focus of the A+A Congress 2023. Sustainable management not only includes environmentally friendly production processes, but also social sustainability and good working conditions. Safety and health in the workplace are essential for this.”

The Chairwomen of the Basi Executive Board, Saskia Osing and Dr. Sebastian Schneider, look back on eventful times and into the A+A year 2023. In the double interview, they talk about key experiences, challenges and many current topics relating to safety and health at work.

Ergonomic tools of the future such as exoskeletons are an important topic at the 38th International A+A Congress 2023. WearRAcon Europe is an important conference in this field and will take place at A+A for the first time from 25-26 October 2023. Under the motto “People matter”, A+A 2023 is all about the most important trends of our time: sustainability and digitalization.

Young, innovative German companies have two different ways to present themselves at A+A 2023 in a cost-effective and uncomplicated manner: via the funding program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) or with their own stand in the A+A StartUp Zone.

The success factors of a joint preventive approach by accident and health insurance companies and company stakeholders in occupational health and safety and workplace health promotion were the focus of an event at “Arbeitsschutz Aktuell 2022” in Stuttgart. Basi, the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work, and its member IKK classic discussed with expert speakers and the audience how pilots can achieve sustainable effects in the multitude of different prevention offers. At the same time, many interested guests visited the Basi stand to find out about the upcoming A+A Congress 2023 and have their photo taken.

Climbing a ladder is part of everyday working life for many people – not only on construction sites, but also in the home. However, ladders are responsible for almost half of all fall accidents on construction sites. Achim Fachbach, specialist for ladders and scaffolding in the building construction department of BG BAU, explains why this is the case, how ladders are used safely and what alternatives there are in an interview with Basi.
