The 38th International A+A Congress 2023 is taking shape: Sustainable strategies for safety and health at work have been identified as a key topic for the congress, which will take place alongside the A+A trade fair in Düsseldorf from October 24 to 27, 2023. Basi, the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work, has conducted a survey of experts on this topic.

Avoiding work intensification, mastering digitalization and dealing with the consequences of climate change and decarbonization – these are just some of the many challenges that occupational safety will face in the future. The hybrid event “Die Basi in Dialogue with the DGUV and EU-OSHA” in Berlin focused on how risks are scientifically identified and what is already being done to counter them. Around 490 participants took part in lively surveys and put numerous questions to Dr. Christian Felten, Managing Director of the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work (Basi), who chaired the dialogue.

With the “Call for Participation” (CfP), the Basi has called for ideas for sustainable safety and health at work to be submitted for the upcoming A+A Congress. In his welcoming address, Federal Minister of Labor Hubert Heil emphasizes: “Sustainability is a focus of the A+A Congress 2023. Sustainable management not only includes environmentally friendly production processes, but also social sustainability and good working conditions. Safety and health in the workplace are essential for this.”

The success factors of a joint preventive approach by accident and health insurance companies and company stakeholders in occupational health and safety and workplace health promotion were the focus of an event at “Arbeitsschutz Aktuell 2022” in Stuttgart. Basi, the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work, and its member IKK classic discussed with expert speakers and the audience how pilots can achieve sustainable effects in the multitude of different prevention offers. At the same time, many interested guests visited the Basi stand to find out about the upcoming A+A Congress 2023 and have their photo taken.

Do we work more relaxed and effectively if we plan more intensively and precisely? How do we deal safely with carcinogenic hazardous substances? And: What risks to our health can we generally expect in the workplace in the future? Answers to these and other topical questions can be found at the upcoming events of Basi, the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work, with its guests – online, on site or hybrid. From October 2022, the “Call for Participation” will also be looking for exciting topics for the A+A Congress 2023.

Companies that focus on sustainable occupational health and safety are well positioned – also economically. The discussion partners at the first edition of the online format “Die Basi im Dialog” agreed on this. Around 200 participants put many questions to Dr Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi, the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work, and his guest Sebastian Bartels, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Sustainability Services at the global expert organization DEKRA.
