Bicycles with electric motors are popular: every fifth person over the age of 55 owns a pedelec. This is the result of a recent representative survey conducted by the opinion research institute Kantar Public on behalf of the German Road Safety Council (DVR). “The pedelec has become part of everyday life for older road users: 71 percent of over 55-year-olds ride their electric bike at least once a week,” says DVR President Manfred Wirsch. “Tour de Freude – sicher unterwegs mit dem Pedelec” (Tour of Joy – safe cycling on a pedelec) is the name of the DVR’s nationwide prevention campaign to prevent accidents involving pedelecs.

European occupational health and safety stakeholders from research, politics and practice have now come together to celebrate the conclusion of the EU-OSHA campaign “Healthy Workplaces – Take the Pressure Off!”. The campaign for the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) was implemented in 30 European countries by the Focal Points (FoPs). Basi supported the campaign as a media partner, and Basi Managing Director Dr. Christian Felten was one of the guests at the closing event. The focus of the 2023/25 campaign is “Safe and healthy working in times of digitalization”.
