With around 3,000 participants from Germany and abroad, the 39th International Congress for Occupational Safety and Occupational Medicine, the A+A Congress 2025, once again confirmed its role as the leading platform for safety and health at work. In over 100 events with 330 speakers, current challenges, innovative solutions and forward-looking strategies were discussed – in a practical, interdisciplinary and international context.
One central topic was artificial intelligence in occupational safety. In his groundbreaking keynote speech, Prof. Lars Adolph from the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) emphasised that AI is no longer a topic for the future, but already offers concrete opportunities for greater safety and health in the workplace today. He called on companies to use AI as a strategic tool for preventive measures. Adolph: ‘AI can help to identify risks at an early stage, make work processes safer and take prevention to a new level – provided it is used responsibly and in a people-centred way.’
The response from conference attendees was overwhelming: numerous panels and practical forums addressed the question of how digital technologies – from AI and wearables to intelligent assistance systems – can be meaningfully integrated into everyday working life. The Vision Zero Stage in Hall 9 and the WearRAcon Europe conference on wearable robotics impressively demonstrated how innovation and prevention can go hand in hand. The occupational safety cinema provided a relaxed break with training opportunities – visitors were able to watch films and snack on popcorn in between sessions.
Classic topics such as health-promoting leadership, violence prevention in the workplace, sustainable decisions in occupational safety management and safe outdoor work were also discussed in depth. Safety Instructor’s’ Day focused on the role of the more than 700,000 safety instructors in Germany – with a view to their future, their responsibilities and their further training.
Dr Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi, drew a thoroughly positive conclusion:
“People matter – and that’s exactly what the A+A Congress 2025 impressively demonstrated. Anyone who wanted to know how modern prevention works found everything they needed here and at the leading trade fair: knowledge, exchange, innovation. And best of all, it doesn’t stop until 2027. The important topics will continue to accompany us between congress years – with new formats, digital offerings and strong partners.”
Of course, attention is also focused on the upcoming anniversary: the 40th A+A Congress 2027 in Düsseldorf. But until then, Basi will remain active: with expert events, digital dialogue formats and continuous networking, the discourse on safety and health at work will be kept alive – in the spirit of prevention that not only informs but also inspires action.
