The German Road Safety Council wants to strengthen road safety in Germany. In future, the “DVR Vision Zero Award” will be presented annually. This award is intended to honor all those who are particularly committed to reducing road traffic accidents with ambitious safety measures and thus pursue the Vision Zero goal of no fatalities or serious injuries on the roads. The application period runs until March 30, 2025.
Since it was founded 30 years ago, the Commission for Occupational Health and Safety and Standardization (KAN) has dealt with a wide range of topics. In the beginning, it was mainly concerned with product safety standards; today, KAN deals with standardization policy developments, among other things: from artificial intelligence to climate change and the circular economy to the revision of the EU Standardization Regulation. How widespread is violence at work? Statistics paint a mixed picture. Between 9,000 and 13,000 reportable accidents at work per year are caused by violence. Psychological violence such as insults or threats are often not included in the statistics. A representative survey conducted by forsa, Gesellschaft für Sozialforschung und statistische Analysen mbH on behalf of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), the umbrella organization of the German Social Accident Insurance Institutions, now shows that around a third of employees who have frequent contact with people outside the company, such as customers or patients, have experienced verbal abuse at work in the past twelve months.
