The Cannabis Act (CanG), which now regulates the controlled use of cannabis, brings with it a number of tips and warnings from experts. Dr. Stefan Hussy, Director General of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), points out the legal framework for employees and employers, which is clearly regulated in the accident prevention regulation “Principles of Prevention” (DGUV Regulation 1).
Violence and aggression are an increasing problem for many employees. The consequences for those affected as well as companies and institutions can be serious. The current issue of the magazine “DGUV forum” deals with the causes of violence and the development of suitable prevention measures. Accident reports and the experience of the accident insurance institutions show that such incidents happen again and again.
In 2023, 2,839 people lost their lives in road accidents in Germany, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). This was 1.8 percent or 51 more fatalities than in the previous year. The number of people injured in road traffic accidents also rose compared to 2022, by 1.5% to 366,557. According to Destatis, this was due to a 3.4% increase in the number of minor injuries to 313,655, while the number of serious injuries fell by 8.4% to 52,902 people. This means that an average of 8 people were killed, 145 seriously injured and 859 slightly injured on German roads per day in 2023.
Alumni can now apply with their final theses for the German Road Safety Council (DVR) 2025 sponsorship award. The prize is awarded to outstanding theses that deal with the topic of “road safety”. The prize is awarded jointly with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the accident insurance funds and employers’ liability insurance associations. Those affected by Long COVID often remain unable to work for a long time or can only do their work to a limited extent in the long term. The complex symptoms of Long COVID, the unpredictability of its course and the risk of deterioration if stress limits are exceeded pose challenges in terms of treatment and reintegration into the workplace. The research project “Return to Work (RTW) after and with Long COVID” of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) aims to develop recommendations for the reintegration of employees with Long COVID.
The 23rd Status Conference of the German Association for Prevention and Health Promotion (BVPG) is dedicated to the current and future challenges of prevention and health promotion on the occasion of the association’s 70th anniversary.
