DGUV statistics recorded around 64,897 violence-related school accidents in 2023, an increase of 11,000 compared to the previous year.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Preventive measures necessary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DGUV Director General Dr. Stefan Hussy emphasizes the need for sustainable measures to prevent violence. Schools are already implementing a wide range of prevention programs, but there is still room for improvement. Psychological violence in particular, such as insults and bullying, is frequently observed and requires targeted prevention strategies.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Background and measures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pupils are covered by statutory accident insurance when attending school and on the way to and from school, which also includes violence-related accidents. The accident rate in 2023 was 7.5 violence-related accidents per 1,000 insured persons, significantly higher than in the pandemic years.
